Development Program Manager
The Fuller Project is the global newsroom dedicated to groundbreaking reporting that catalyzes positive change for women. Since we launched in 2015, our reporting has helped end life-threatening practices, led to large scale releases of public data, and prompted the introduction of new legislation.

Our journalists spotlight critical issues and expose injustice with in-depth reporting published in renowned news outlets such as The New York Times, The Washington Post and Foreign Policy. Partnering with legacy news outlets ensures our rigorous reporting reaches the broadest global audiences, including policymakers, corporate leaders and influencers, shining a spotlight on how to solve the critical issues women face around the world. Globally, our reporters work hand-in-hand with journalists inside the largest and most respected newsrooms, from Afghanistan to India to Kenya, leading to reporting that is globally relevant and grounded in the realities of local women.
The Fuller Project is seeking a Development Program Manager who is keenly interested in being part of a team dedicated to groundbreaking reporting that catalyzes positive change for women.
The Development Program Manager will join a highly motivated team seeking to engage and grow our individual donor base and expand our institutional support of our exclusive stories centered on women that otherwise would not be told. The Development Program Manager will report to the Chief Development Officer (CDO) and will work closely with the CEO as well as the Executive Team in all development functions as determined by supervision.
The Development Program Manager will also support The Fuller Project’s expanding fundraising program including helping to build the individual giving program and grow institutional giving. In partnership with the CDO, the Program Manager will nurture a culture of philanthropy that supports the organizational and newsroom priorities.
Note that this is not an editorial (journalism) position.
The Development Program Manager will:
- Support the Chief Development Officer and the executive team to achieve fundraising goals aligned with The Fuller Project’s strategic plan and priorities.
- Support the development and execution of annual and long-term fundraising plans and strategies for institutional donors and prospects
- Responsible for updating and maintaining The Fuller Project’s donor database and file system
- Manage the gift acknowledgement process and other donor communications
- Research new prospective funders and prepare briefs
- Assist in managing a growing portfolio of grants and support renewal efforts, including drafting content for donor reports and proposals, compile associated materials, and monitoring deadlines
- Assist the CDO with a stewardship strategy and related high impact events for top prospects, donors, and volunteers
- Work closely with other departments, including the Communications team on visuals/communications, operations and finance on gift reconciliation, and organization leadership on board development and engagement
- Support an expanded strategy that could include: membership program, digital fundraising, corporate engagement, etc.
- Other development and operational tasks as needed.
This is an non-supervisory role.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Passion for the mission of The Fuller Project
- ~4-5 years of fundraising and development experience
- Superior communication skills, both written and oral, and the ability to influence and engage a diverse pool of stakeholders
- Experience working with Microsoft Office, Google Suite, Mail Chimp, and with a fundraising CRM such as Salesforce or Network for Good
- Ability to work independently with minimal oversight and as a team player who will productively engage with others at varying levels of seniority within and outside of the organization
- Ability to take initiative and to collaborate and communicate effectively in a remote team
- Excellent time-management skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
- Ability to creatively problem solve under pressure and anticipate needs
- Experience in proposal and/or report writing for institutional donors
- Experience conducting donor research and writing briefs
- Experience working with a variety of programs: individual giving, major gifts, membership, digital fundraising, corporate engagement, etc.

The Fuller Project executive team is based in our office in the greater Washington D.C. area. We are a flexible hybrid workplace. While we prefer candidates to reside in the greater DMV, candidates who are in other major metropolitan locations, and are willing to travel to Washington D.C.-area for team building will be considered.
